If attending an NDLS centre you must Book an Appointment
Because of Covid-19 measures, all appointments to attend an NDLS centre must be booked online, you can book an appointment here. Expiry dates on some driving licences and learner permits have been automatically extended. You may not need to renew just yet. Before you book an appointment please check the expiry date of your learner permit or driving licence on our expiry calculator here.
Please note: NDLS can only accept payment by debit/credit card and Google Pay/Apple Pay.
Extension of Validity of Expired Licences and Learner Permits
All Driving Licences that expired from 01 March 2020 to 31 August 2020 have been automatically extended by 13 months in total OR to 01 July 2021 whichever date is latest.
Driving Licences that expire from 01 September 2020 to 30 June 2021 will be automatically extended by 10 months in total.
All Learner Permits that expired from 01 March to 30 June 2020 were automatically extended by eight months in total.
All Learner Permits that expired from 01 July to 31 October 2020 were automatically extended for a further four month period.
No further extensions apply to Learner permits

Medical Reports for over 70’s with no medical condition
If you are aged 70 and over and do not have a medical condition - details here you do not need to submit a medical report provided you are not renewing or applying for bus or truck categories. This is a temporary exemption and will be in place until 30 June 2021.
There is a new online service now available. You can now apply online for first-time learner permit or driving licence applications, renewal applications, foreign licence exchange, change of personal details or replacement of a lost/stolen or damaged licence or permit. All you need is your Public Services Card and your verified MyGovID for safe, secure access to your online application.
